Apart from all our athletes representing NZ so well in Suva, a total of 22 new National records were set!!
In particular David Liti’s outstanding performance exceeded the best Totals ever made by our 1974 Games medalists (Graham May, John Bolton and Rory Barrett).
And with the final team points – NZ finished third in the male section and second equal with Samoa for our women.

Event: OWA Club Competition
We have held our last Club Competition at Gillies Ave for 2017.
Our last competition of the year will be the Rod Kennedy Auckland Clubs Team Series Event 3 on 16th December and this is being hosted by Waitakere Olympic Weightlifting. Check out that tab under Events.
Our club comps for 2018 will be added to the website as soon as they have been confirmed.
Athletes must be members of OWNZ (Olympic Weightlifting New Zealand) to compete at an OWA Club Comp.
All OWA Members pay a discounted Entry Fee to an OWA Club Comp.
Non Members pay an Entry Fee that includes an OWA Membership (see Entry Form for more information).
Our events are a great opportunity for lifters of all abilities to gain experience on the platform in a relaxed and supportive environment. The comps can also be used as national or international qualifying events plus national records can be also be set.
Club competitions differ from Championship events in a number of areas. Click here for more information.
